Important Note
This class is designed for students who are ready to focus, follow multi-step instructions, and work independently in a group studio environment. Students should be comfortable participating without direct parental assistance and completing projects over multiple sessions. A willingness to try new techniques is encouraged.
This class encourages young artists to develop creativity and self-expression while building foundational ceramics skills. Students will learn essential hand-building techniques such as slab construction, coil building, and scoring & slipping, along with an introduction to glazing using underglazes and cone 6 or cone 10 glazes.
Projects focus on both creativity and skill-building, including slab-built bowls with custom textures, coil vessels with unique designs, canvas painting with guided techniques, and sculptural pinch pot projects. Students are encouraged to personalize their work and explore their own artistic style.
* All supplies included (clay, tools, and glazes)
* Clay projects are kiln-fired twice
* Finished pieces will be available for pickup approximately two weeks after the final class
Parent/Guardian Policy
This is a drop-off class. To maintain a focused, safe, and distraction-free studio environment, parents/guardians are kindly asked to remain outside the classroom during sessions.
If your child requires special assistance or accommodations, please contact us in advance so we can best support their experience.

Policies
Cancellation & Refund Policy:
The $100 deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the class start date may be eligible for a credit toward a future class. Cancellations made within 7 days of the start date are non-refundable and non-transferable.
No Make-Up Policy:
Missed classes are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. Please plan accordingly.
Waitlist:
If a class is full, you may request to be added to the waitlist. We will contact you if a spot becomes available. Availability is not guaranteed.
Class Minimum:
Michigan Art Center reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class if minimum enrollment is not met. In such cases, a full refund or credit will be provided.
